Classical homeopathy versus polypharmacy

Classical homeopathy and polypharmacy are two different approaches to homeopathic treatment. Classical homeopathy follows the principles laid out by Dr. Samuel Hahnemann, the founder of homeopathy, which include the use of a single remedy at a time, the law of similars, and the principle of dilution. Polypharmacy, on the other hand, involves the use of multiple remedies at a time.

There are several advantages to classical homeopathy. First, it is based on a solid theoretical foundation. The law of similars states that “like cures like,” is so effective in some clinical trials. Second, classical homeopathy is a very gentle form of treatment. The remedies are diluted to such an extent that they are often undetectable, which means that they are unlikely to have any side effects. Third, classical homeopathy is a very individualized form of treatment. The homeopath will take the time to understand the patient’s symptoms and constitution before prescribing a remedy. The lifestyle of a patient is also taken into consideration.

There are also so many advantages to classical homeopathy. First, it is a fast-acting form of treatment. Depending on the level of health of the chronic patient, it may take several weeks or even months to cure the patient. Acute patients may need hours to some days to get a positive effect. Second, classical homeopathy is most of the time effective. If there is any obstruction to cure, it may not bring quick results. Third, classical homeopathy is less expensive. The main cost involves the consultation which takes much time, not the cost of medicine.

Polypharmacy is a more common approach to homeopathic treatment than classical homeopathy. It is often used by homeopaths who believe that the law of similars is ineffective. Polypharmacy can be effective in some cases, but it also has many disadvantages. First, it can be difficult to determine which remedies are most effective for a particular patient. Second, polypharmacy can increase the risk of side effects. Third, polypharmacy can be expensive.

The best approach to homeopathic treatment depends on the individual patient. Some patients may prefer the gentle and individualized approach of classical homeopathy, while others may find that polypharmacy is more effective. Ultimately, the decision of which approach to use should be made in consultation with a qualified homeopath.

Here we can summarize the key differences between classical homeopathy and polypharmacy:

Principles: Classical homeopathy follows the law of similars, dilution, and single remedy whereas, polypharmacy has no such principle and it is not even scientific.

Effectiveness: Classical homeopathy is very much effective. Polypharmacy most of the time palliates the symptoms which is erroneously called a cure.

Side effects: if there is no wrong prescription, classical homeopathy has no side effects. There are so many possible side effects of polypharmacy. The significant one is the change in symptom modalities for which the homeopath cannot get a clear case in the follow-up and can not be clear about which remedy did what. He continues which so much confusion by prescribing multiple remedies.

Individualization: Classical homeopathy is highly individualized and rather than curing a particular symptom or disease it focuses on the whole patient. The issue of individualization is totally absent in polypharmacy.

Cost of treatment: As the homeopath is prescribing single remedy classical homeopathy is less costly than that of polypharmacy. The classical homeopath takes lots of time to listen to all the symptoms of patients. Polypharmacy on the other hand does not require homeopaths to know everything. They just listen to all symptoms to give multiple remedies which cost lots of money.
